Job Information

The Teacher is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring effective individualized academic programs for each assigned student. The Teaching postion requires a Bachelor’s degree in the Education feild, West Virginia Alternative Teaching Certification 7-12, one year teaching expereince preferred, and one year experience working with troubled youth preferred.

Job Requirements

1. To assure effective academic programming for each student which results in high rates of academic progress and successful program completion, the Teacher will:

a. design and annually review Individualized Education Plans (I.E.P.s) for each student (teacher will assist in this process)
b. design daily individual lesson plans for each student
c. instruct students in all areas specified in I.E.P. through individual or group interactions;
d. integrate experiential education into student’s daily programming;
e. design and implement a classroom management system and practice/guidelines for appropriate school decorum;
f. implement group process procedures in the classroom;
g. maintain frequent informal communication with team members regarding student programming and progress; and demonstrate a proficient level of cultural sensitivity.
h. actively implement components of all Re-ED values in the school, home, and community settings
i. implement treatment interventions in adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures as well as the youth’s treatment plan

2. To assure comprehensive documentation of all academic and behavioral progress, the Teacher will:

a. prepare and distribute to students report cards and progress monitoring;
b. complete record-keeping procedures for team meetings,
c. follow designated program policy regarding the documentation of critical incidents
d. utilize technology through electronic documentation, electronic communication, and use of the internet to supplement programming;
e. complete designated assessment forms on a regular basis;
f. assist in completing daily progress notes when necessary

Foster Parent Conference & Recognition Banquet

Pressley Ridge Delaware is collaborating with the state of Delaware to host the first Foster Parent Conference & Recognition Banquet. The conference is FREE; continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be served; keynote speaker is Chauncey Strong of Fairfax County Virginia Department of Family Services in the Permanency and Life Skills Unit ; training sessions will be offered throughout the day. Upon completion parents can earn 6 annual training hours.
